Reasons why I can't wait to visit Santorini - Greece

Santorini has always been known as the most beautiful, scenery, blue and white, romantic island in this world. I have always dreamt about going there, admiring all the views, taking those perfect Instagram pictures and just living the life really! I can finally say, I will be going to Santorini in 2017 for a week!

Believe it or not, I have never been to Greece. My parents went to Athens and they mentioned how much history and culture is behind that city. I have always wanted to go to Greece but little did I know Santorini would be the first place I visit.

The Sunset

The sunset in Santorini is meant to be the world's most amazing sunset EVER! I love views, it really is my thing therefore, I can not wait to go to Oia and watch the sunset and sunrise. I have heard you have to get to the top of Oia early otherwise it gets very crowded and its hard to get a good view. I will be bearing this in mind and hopefully will find that perfect spot to take some spectacular pictures!

Hiking from Fira to Oia

There are plenty of routes to walk from Fira to Oia. I enjoy walking, in Rome and Prague we walked everywhere 25KM+ per day therefore, I am excited to do this hike. I will most definitely be taking my comfortable trainers as I do not want any blisters! Online there are many websites which advertise different routes, I guess once I am there or as my holiday approaches, I will look into the routes and see which ones have the most to offer.

I love Greek food. When I am on holiday there is one rule to follow when it comes to food - try everything which you can not get here in UK! I am excited to try chicken gyros, Greek salads, seafood and just something different or something I have not had before. One thing I don't eat is Pork. So I hope Greece has a lot of chicken and lamb and seafood to offer!

Caldera Views

As I have said before I love views. I always find views to be relaxing and pretty much breathtaking. Santorini is known for its views and that is what I am most excited about. I am also looking forward to seeing the white and blue buildings, the beautiful Churches as well as meeting a few locals and getting to know the culture. I love history and getting to know the place better therefore, I believe going to see Santorini from Caldera Views is going to one of the highlights of my trip.

Red Beach in Kamari

This beach is one of the famous beaches on the Island. It has red rocks and sand with lots of pebbles. This is no sand, relaxing, sun-bathing beach! But as someone who loves to travel, I am excited to see what this beach has to offer. I would love to go snorkeling and I am looking into investing a GoPro Hero to take my adventures to the next level! Any tips - let me know!

See Santorini from the sea

I have always wondered what Santorini looks like from the other side of the sea. It is a volcanic island therefore, I am intrigued to see what the shape is like. I think we will be taking a boat trip out of the island which will give us the opportunity to see the island from a different angle.

So guys that's it for my to-do list in Santorini, or the reasons why I am excited to visit Santorini! If any of you have been before let me know what your thoughts are and if you have any recommendations then drop me a comment! Can you guys tell I am ever so excited to go?! Roll on summer 2017!

Any travel bloggers reading this post, can you recommend a good lens to use with my Canon 600D or Sony A5100? As I need a good all rounder lens for this holiday as well as others which I have planned for next year. This holiday is practically my dream holiday and I want to make sure I have a good memory of it via pictures which I can always reflect back on.

  1. Greece is without a doubt my favourite country. I've visited three of the islands (and Cyprus which is pretty Greek too?) about seven times, and without a doubt Santorini is the most beautiful place on earth! I'm so desperate to go back! We stayed in Kamari which is so beautiful and definitely do a boat trip! It's amazing. xx

    1. Ahh I am even more excited to go now! Thank you, boat trip is definitely on my list of things to do! I kind of wish now we were staying in Kamari as its meant to be a good resort with everything there, but I guess can't go wrong with Fira at the same time xx

  2. This post is so perfect...I am off to Santorini the same week and I cannot wait! Looking forward to all the same things (though sadly hiking may be off the menu unless I can find one under two hours as I will be 7 months' pregnant!). Hadn't thought of a boat trip - def will be an amazing way to see the island, so thanks for that! And have a great holiday! Xx
