Queen's Head - Dinner

This week has been pretty hectic, I have been working like crazy and in between I have been catching up with friends and going for nice meals! I do apologise for doing another food blog post which makes two ina row.

So Queens Head is in West Felton which is a small village in Shropshire. I haven't been there before but have heard many good things about them, it is a restaurant and a pub in the countryside. There is a lovely canel right next to the building and I can imagine it being very busy during summer!

Firstly this is their website which you can visit to check out their menu and exact address. http://www.the-queens-head-oswestry.co.uk

As soon as we went there we were told to choose somewhere to sit and someone will be with us shortly. As we sat down we were given the menus and were offered drinks. We both went for coke with ice and a slice of lemon!

Next we wanted starters, however we were not sure what to get as there were a few good options. After asking the waitress what she would recommend, I choose the King Prawns while Keely (my friend) choose Black Pudding!

This is my starter! It was delicious! The garlic creamy sauce was very mild but not sweet which is what I liked. There was a generous amount of king prawns and overall I had no complaints. I don't normally like creamy sauce as I prefer a hint of spice however the king prawns really complimented the sauce so it was nice to try something different and something I would not go for normally.

This is the Black Pudding which Keely ordered. She really enjoyed it and it was also something she would not order normally. I am not keen at all on black puddings (don't eat pork anyways) so I cannot comment on how it tasted but they did include an egg and layered it up with cheese and sauce which she said added that extra bit of taste.

We both wanted steak and opted to have the 10oz Rump Steak! I asked for it to be cooked to medium rare and it was cooked to perfection! It came with onion rings, grilled tomatoes and some leaves on the side. I also asked for peppercorn sauce. However I thought this was the whole meal as it looks big enough for a main course! However to my surprise the steak also came with chips and a salad!

As you can see our table was full of food! We obviously could not finish it all! The salad was tasty, colourful and made me feel a little bit healthier! The chips were also lovely and there was nothing I could fault about their service! The only thing I would say is that I do wish the drinks were refillable! However in most local restaurants they are not so it was not too much of a problem.

I would definitely recommend this place if you are passing by or going towards North Wales as it is not far from there! They have a wide range of food available which are also suitable for vegetarians and can be made gluten free. I am looking forward to going back there as it was a lovely treat!
